All the heatmaps are based on the number of available Panoramio photos for an area.

The dark areas have no photos attached, the blue areas have a few photos, the red areas have more and the yellow areas have a large number of photos geotagged.

The "top" map makes only the most popular places to stand out. Zoom in to see the tiny dots.

The London and Paris heatmaps show a blue square only on the spots with at least two photos available.

Google chrome may zoom and move the highres and top maps somewhat slowly: other browsers cope better.

The maps were created for the personalized tourism recommender project Sightsplanner with the eventual goal is to automate the calculation of the popularity of each point of interest. See the heatmaps for the whole world and heatmaps for Estonia.
